About the role
Community Visitors are the eyes and ears of the community and perform an important role
of upholding the human rights of people with a cognitive disability and/or
mental illness who are living in supported care.
They monitor and report on the adequacy of services being provided to
residents/patients.
Community Visitors also talk to residents/patients to identify issues of concern and write
a brief report at the conclusion of the visit.
Community Visitors visit in pairs and visit facilities within their region. Â Good
communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills are required. The
ability to contribute to a visit report is also required. This role
is ideally suited to individuals who are available during day-time hours or
late afternoons.
Access to your own transport to get to visits is required.
(Travel expenses are reimbursed). Training is also provided.
