About the role
Our Village, rehomes the essentials kids need to give them the best start in life. The charity, with warehouses in Clayton (Melbourne) and Geelong, currently positively impacts over 20,000 babies and children each year right across Victoria. But, with around 100,000 children needing our help we now need to scale up our operation significantly. In addition to a passion for and a desire to advance the strategic objectives of Our Village, we are seeking:
- A fundraising expert who can support the Board’s strategy within this critical pillar. An understanding of charity fundraising and extensive networks and experience across a variety of funder segments would be looked upon favourably.
- A representative of the Geelong community. As a service provider, employer and provider of volunteering opportunities to the local community it is essential we have strategic representation from, and engagement with, the local community.
- A qualified accountant or equivalent who can also sit on our Finance, Risk and Audit Committee and learn from our Treasurer as part of our succession planning.
If you can fulfil any of these roles we would love to hear from you.
For full details about the roles please see here.
About the organisation
Our Village collects and rehomes pre-loved essential baby and children’s items which are sorted, cleaned, safety checked and packed by our massive volunteer crew. We then partner with social services, maternal and child health nurses and other community organisations to pass these items on to vulnerable babies and children across Victoria who need them. Instead of being discarded into landfill, good quality, safe items can now provide many more families with years of use.
Our vision is Share More. Waste Less. Every Child Thrives. To achieve it we have made three ambitious pledges to:
- Support every child up to the age of six that needs us, first in Victoria and then beyond
- Reduce waste by ensuring children's products are used for their full safe lifespan
- Contribute to thriving communities, social connection and employment opportunity by providing enjoyable and fulfilling volunteering experiences
