Our partner is an Ethiopian based social enterprise which supplies local farmers with improved breeds of chickens and management methods.
They aim to improve the nutrition and livelihoods of rural Ethiopians, the majority of whom are small hold farmers, with the use a new breed of chicken which produces 4 times more eggs and grow 4 times faster.
Since its inception in 2011 the organisation has grown considerably, now working across multiple locations. They are producing over 1 million chicks per month and with 2000 field agents and travelling vets distributing and overseeing the health of the chickens. For the first 45 days of the chicks lives, they stay with field agents who care for and vaccinate them before selling them to the farmers.
They have requested support to help redesign their accounting and finance systems to better support their size.
