Time required : 9:00-3:00

Duration of project : Weekly

Sector : Aged Care & Seniors, Disabilities

About the role

Are you handy with nail polish? Do you enjoy the company of older people and like having a chat?

This organisation has a trolley full of nail polishes, creams and all manner of treatments for the hands. They would love a Volunteer, or two, who will use this trolley to its full potential by providing their Day Centre attendees with gentle hand massages and basic manicures (painting and filing only).

This service enables the recipients to enjoy the benefits of social contact and one-on-one camaraderie. It is a fabulous way to help alleviate their anxiety and loneliness, while at the same time boosting their self-esteem.

You must be a good listener, have a gentle nature and be able to communicate well with older people, as well as being handy with a bottle of nail polish! You should respect confidentiality and be comfortable working in an environment with seniors and those who have a disability. Volunteering in this role requires you to be friendly, patient, gentle, have outstanding communication skills and a keen sense of humour.

Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday, between 10am and 12pm. You must be over 18 years of age and a willingness to commit to this role long term would be looked upon most favourably.

If you would like to add some colour, and maybe even a little sparkle, to someone else’s life, we would love to hear from you!
