About the Role
WADAC (Women’s Alcohol & Drug Advisory Centre Inc.) is the governing body of Jarrah House which is a women’s only residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility located at Little Bay in Sydney’s south east.
Jarrah House has been operating since 1987 and is recognised by the United Nations as the only facility of its kind in NSW where women can bring their children with them while they complete the ten week programme that Jarrah House offers. Jarrah House is a women’s only service and is run by women for women.
WADAC currently has seven directors and we are looking for the skills of an IT person to advise us on moving from a paper based organisation to a database. The role you would play on the board is strategic and focused on governance and is therefore not an operational role.
WADAC hold its board meetings six weekly rotating between Jarrah House on a Tuesday from 6.30 pm for approximately two hours and at a board members office in the city also on a Tuesday from 6pm.
Your expertise would be called on intermittently and you may be required to attend special meetings outside of normal board meetings. The role would require approximately five hours per month.
Previous board experience would be preferable but not essential.
