About the role

Background
The UNAA Victoria is a non-profit, non-governmental, membership-based community organisation working to promote the aims and ideals of the United Nations and seek support for the UN and its programs and agencies. We are committed to building a strong, credible and effective UN and advocate support for the UN in the Australian community.
The United Nations Associations represent a vital link between the United Nations and citizens of its member states. In Australia, the Association is represented in every state and territory through its divisions and national body. The divisions work together to campaign in support of the UN and its current priorities such as the Millennium Development Goals, human rights, gender equality, the environment, global health, sustainable development, peace and security. The UNAAV Young Professionals seeks to strengthen global citizenship by linking Australian Young Professionals with the UN and the global network of UN Associations.

Duties of the role
• Support the development of our Social Media Strategy;
• Manage UNAAV YP Social Media Content (Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and Meetup etc);
• Grow members through improved social media reach;
• Manage and deliver the UNAAV YP event communications;
• Attend six committee meetings a year, and additional sub-committee meetings as required; and
• A passion for engaging young professionals and making a difference to UN related issue locally!

In return we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your social media skills across a number of communications channels and a good degree of autonomy in the role You will also learn more about the work of the UN and develop and share contact around topical areas of national and international significance, collaborate with graphic designers and other committee members. You will grow your networks through the young professionals on the committee and partnerships with not-for profit organisations and inject your own ideas, passions and inspiration into the role and the direction of the committee’s social media strategy in 2017.
