About the role

Have you got a background or experience in social media support, communications, graphic design or copywriting? We are looking for people to join our Communications Team!

RUN FOR IT is a youth-led organisation completely powered by young people who volunteer their time. Our mission is to fix Australian politics and democracy by engaging young people in elections and voting! This goes beyond visiting your MP or sending a letter through… we will support young people to run campaigns in elections with the goal of electing as many young people in our governments as possible!

Our Communications Team plays an integral role in reaching young Australians, and so, we are looking for young people with some experience in social media support (or specific skills) to join our team and lead exciting and engaging projects that young people can relate to! Our Communications Team’s mission is to make politics more accessible and does this by using simple language to explain what is happening in politics and how to engage with it in ways that really make a difference.

Are you interested? Here is what we are looking for:

  • 3+ young people based in Australia
  • Aged below the age of 35 years
  • Around a year of experience engaging in social media (or a background in communications)
  • Ability to commit any amount of hours for at least 6 or 12 months (you choose!)

Does this sound like you? Head to our website now to fill out a quick (5 minute) form!

About the organisation

Organisation name : RUN FOR IT

ABOUT RUN FOR IT

RUN FOR IT seeks to change the problems with politics. We want to help young community leaders and people from historically marginalised communities enter the democracy and set a new agenda. We want to encourage and support energetic and bold young people to run strategic and successful campaigns to create a better kind of politics in Australia.

OUR VALUES

Climate and Environmental Justice

We fight for climate action by pursuing zero emission policies, opposing the influence of the fossil fuel industry and centring people who are most affected by climate impacts.

Economic Justice

Everyone has the right to dignity, security and the ability to meet their needs. No one should live in poverty. We oppose policies that put public goods in private hands and we fight for universal services that give everyone a chance at a fulfilling and healthy life.

Social Justice

We believe that opportunities, and privileges should be fairly distributed within a society. No person should be treated differently based on their race, background, gender, sexuality, able-bodiedness or class. We will be actively anti-racist and work to dismantle systems of oppression.

OUR VISION

We envision a world where politics accurately represents young people and takes the needs and concerns of young people seriously. Where young people face no barriers to engaging in politics and feel comfortable speaking up for what they believe in.

A type of politics where young people are inspired by their peers in politics and the real concerns of young people are addressed and responded to.
