About the role
Position: Treasurer, Landcare Tasmania Inc.
Landcare Tasmania is seeking a suitably qualified person to act as the organisation’s Treasurer. The Treasurer is a member of the Executive Committee, which meets about once a month (including by teleconference) to ensure the proper management of the affairs of the Association*. The Treasurer will contribute to the Executive’s oversight of operations, which are delivered by a team of 4 people based in Hobart and northern Tasmania.
The Treasurer supports the Executive in:
- understanding financial reports and other financial matters brought forward by the Executive Officer and Finance Officer;
- development, approval and ongoing review of the organisational budget;
- presenting the audited annual accounts to the Annual General Meeting;
- providing advice to the Finance Officer on record keeping and other financial matters; and
- fulfilling the other responsibilities of the Executive to ensure proper management of Landcare Tasmania’s affairs.
Positions on the Executive of Landcare Tasmania are honorary. However to secure the services of a the right Treasurer a small remuneration package may be negotiated if required. The position is an excellent opportunity for a financial professional to obtain direct experience in the not-for-profit sector, in a dynamic organisation with a vision for all the land and coasts of Tasmania to be cared for by the community.
* Meetings are usually for 1-2 hours maximum, often less.
