About the role
This volunteer position enables Land Of Welcome to
• implement a friendship based advocacy strategy in support of new Australians including those seeking asylum
• comply with the rules of incorporation
• be constantly aware of its immediate financial position and projections.
• Be in a position to make sound financial decisions
Your contribution to the achievement of Land Of Welcome’s objectives will be recognized by a formal certificate of appreciation
The Treasurer is responsible for keeping accurate and timely financial records and is one of 3 signatories to the check account.
The tasks:
• Receive all moneys paid/donated to the Association, issue receipts, transfer these funds to the bank account within 5 working days;
• Ensure cheques are signed by at least 2 committee members out of 3 signatories.
• Make payments authorised by the Committee and/or a General Meeting;
• Ensure financial records are accurate, kept in accordance with the Act and are available in time for certification by the Committee and submission to the Annual General Meeting and for the Association’s annual registration.
• Enable at least two other committee members to have access to the Association‘s accounts and financial records
• Attend six out of eleven picnics a year and three out of four board meetings
Skills required
Knowledge of accountancy procedures and prior experience of a Not for Profit organisation are desirable. Sound knowledge of Excel.

Land Of welcome is a not-for-profit association of volunteers focused on making Australia a more welcoming community. In our vision of success, new Australians with a refugee or asylum seeker background, feel welcome and valued, and settled Australians have discovered new perspectives and are actively involved in positive change.
Our core activities include monthly friendship picnics, volunteering in projects that facilitate the successful integration of new Australians, and generating funds for projects benefiting new Australians.
