About the organisation
Desert Knowledge Australia (DKA) is a not-for-profit statutory corporation of the Northern Territory, established in 2003 to facilitate learning, research, socio-economic development and environmental sustainability in Central Australia. DKA is committed to developing opportunities to build a stronger and more connected desert and remote Australia.
About the program:
DKAccelerator is a six-month program by Desert Knowledge Australia, designed to support up to five First Nations entrepreneurs in Central Australia to accelerate the growth of their business through digital technology innovation. Selected applicants will be assigned a $10,000 growth budget and a small team of growth experts working alongside them to help achieve their goals.
About the role
- Remote, full-time
- Make a difference by supporting emerging First Nations entrepreneurs and future leaders.
- Join a small and dedicated team!
This is an exciting opportunity to grow the digital footprint of emerging First Nations enterprises in Central Australia as part of Desert Knowledge Australia’s new business accelerator program – DKAccelerator.
You will work closely with the program manager and be responsible for supporting a small group of First Nations entrepreneurs to grow and develop their enterprise through innovative digital marketing initiatives.
You will need to test different customer acquisition strategies for each of the businesses you work with to figure out what works and what doesn’t. This requires resilience, a positive–problem-solving attitude, and multi-disciplinary digital marketing skills. Prior experience with growing early-stage start-ups, where you have to do a little bit of everything on a shoestring budget, will best prepare you for a role like this one. You will have a $10,000 growth budget for each business that you support. If a project requires specialised skills in an area that is not your specialty, you will be responsible for outsourcing these specific tasks to specialist consultants.
Although the program is based out of Alice Springs, Central Australia, this role can be delivered remotely provided you are capable of developing relationships and managing your time and performance effectively with minimal guidance or support. If you are based locally or are able to relocate, you will work out of DKA’s Business & Innovation Centre in Alice Springs where our team and program cohort will be based.
