About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and successful Major Gifts Manager to join our Philanthropy Department on a full-time, permanent basis. This position is responsible for the management of the major gifts program, which is charged with managing relationships and securing support from donors who are capable of making gifts of $25,000 to $100,000.

The person in this role will manage a personal portfolio of 20-50 prospects and an additional portfolio of high-level donors. They will develop and implement the major gift fundraising plan for Opera Australia. This role will work closely with the Philanthropy team in Sydney and Melbourne to ensure coordination amongst individual giving programs.

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in growing philanthropic income and increasing the number of major donors to an organisation, and considerable experience in managing and developing relationships with high net worth individuals. You will also have prior experience in the administration of either philanthropy campaigns, major gifts or other philanthropy programs including acquisition and retention of individuals and companies, and strong experience in managing a variety of stakeholder relationships including with donors, board members, members of senior management, suppliers and community representatives. Excellent verbal and written skills, coupled with high level IT skills and database knowledge are a must.
