About the role

  • Promote gifts in wills to new and existing Peter Mac supporters
  • Inspire supporters and prospects to include a gift in their will for cancer research
  • Provide highest levels of donor care for confirmed gifts in wills supporters

The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer and one of an elite group of hospitals worldwide to have its own integrated cancer research program and laboratories.

Peter Mac’s Gifts in Wills program is responsible for promoting and soliciting gifts in wills to Peter Mac supporters and the wider community and stewarding these special supporters. The program generates significant income to fund Peter Mac’s life-saving cancer research. We are seeking a motivated individual who is committed to and passionate about gifts in wills fundraising and Peter Mac’s work.

Your focus will be on inspiring new and existing Peter Mac supporters to include a gift in their will to Peter Mac, and providing high-level stewardship to our confirmed gifts in wills supporters – including their annual giving – through personal donor engagement (primarily by telephone and mail).

Your engaging nature, emotional intelligence and relationship management experience will see you develop strong and meaningful relationships with new prospects and donors, aligning their motivations for giving with Peter Mac’s mission.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent telephone manner and strong customer/donor care experience
  • Demonstrated experience in making the ask (fundraising, telemarketing, face to face, sales)
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and negotiation skills, with the ability to relate sensitively to people, especially people of a senior age
  • Proficient in maintaining information for consistent and regular recording and reporting of engagement activity
  • Demonstrated ability as a self-starter, working productively both autonomously and as a member of a team
