Time required : 5 days (flexible)

About the role

IWDA is seeking volunteer Khmer/English interpreter(s) to work with one of our partners in Melbourne for 5 days 27-31 August 2018.

The interpreter (Khmer/English) will provide interpretation services for the Gender Team Leader from our partner organisation in Cambodia, Banteay Srei, who is visiting Melbourne from 27-31 August 2018 on a study tour.

The Gender Team Leader manages the safe house project, which provides a safe place for women and children escaping domestic violence in Siem Reap, Cambodia. She will be meeting with local service providers that support women and children survivors of violence, so that she can develop improved service delivery models for Banteay Srei.

This engagement will be unpaid but IWDA will cover food and transport costs for the 5 days. Anticipated working hours are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.

This is an excellent opportunity to support one of IWDA’s partners and get to know their work.

Ideally we would like to work with one interpreter for all 5 days but this will depend on interpreters’ availability.

If you speak Khmer and English and are available for all or some of the specified dates then please download the Position Description and email an expression of interest to Antoinette Abou-Rizk at aabou-rizk@iwda.org.au outlining your suitability for the role. There is no closing date for expressions of interest – if you meet the criteria please send yours in as soon as possible. Please direct enquiries to aabou-rizk@iwda.org.au.

International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA) has an EEO exemption (H112/2018) and requests applications from women only. IWDA encourages women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and women with disabilities to apply. Any offer of volunteer engagement will require a National Police Check and endorsement of IWDA’s Child Protection Code of Conduct.
