About the role
Travellers Aid, along with the VicRoads City of Moonee Valley, will be conducting a pilot project. The project aims to support and empower older drivers to consider transport alternatives as they age so they can continue to lead full and active lives whilst reducing their dependency on driving private cars.
The objective is to encourage and educate older drivers to consciously plan for their own transition to alternative transport options whilst retaining their self-determination and their choice of transport options.
The pilot also aims to deal with the negative feelings associated with relinquishing driving and seeks to address the older driver’s challenges, barriers and fears, in particular their desire to maintain a high level of independence and community involvement.
