About the role
Help enrich the life of someone who is lonely by becoming a Community Visitor with the Community Visitor Scheme (CVS). The CVS is seeking volunteers who speak various community languages and are willing to share cultural experiences for CALD recipients in the Bayside, Kingston, Glen Eira and other nearby Bay areas, to provide social visits to older people.
A Community Visitor is a volunteer who is matched with a person living in their own home or in an Aged Care Facility, who maybe lonely or isolated and who visits on a regular basis to provide friendship and companionship.
Visits can be spent doing something both the person and the volunteer enjoy – reading, listening to music, chatting and reminiscing or going for a walk or other outing.
We ask that volunteers commit to visiting for up to an hour once a fortnight, as a minimum (but you can visit more often if you like). We also ask that potential volunteers consider making the commitment for at least 12 months.
As a Community Visitor you play a vital role in improving the quality of life of the person you visit through ongoing companionship.
Orientation/training is provided before commencement, at your own pace and in the comfort of your home. Ongoing support is provided.
If you can speak a second language like Russian (female) , Greek, Italian, Ukraine, Hindi (female), Tamil, Croatian and Arabic, then please call us for a chat, please apply now for this rewarding role!
