About the role
Volunteer responsibilities include:
- answering the phone in a pleasant manner
- responding to client’s transport needs
- entering transport requests into the NVTS booking system
- recording all relevant information into the booking system
- transfer other telephone enquiries to the relevant staff member and take messages

- ability to work under pressure at times
- respect cultural diversity, accept a wide variety of people of all ages and backgrounds
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- excellent phone etiquette
It is a requirement that all volunteers obtain a Dept of Human Services Screening check before commencing in the role.
About the organisation
NVTS is a not-for-profit volunteer organisation providing a tailored, personalised door to door transport service for the aged and frail residents living in the City of Onkaparinga, enabling them to be more independent at home and in the community.
The service is flexible to suit our client's needs and our volunteer drivers are considerate and respectful at all times. NVTS provides transport for essential appointments to hospitals, specialists and other health professionals as well as podiatry, physiotherapy, dental. The service also allows clients to engage with others at social groups, attend a hairdresser and visit their loved ones in hospital or in residential care.
NVTS can provide transport to clients with a functional limitation/manageable level of support and is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, Commonwealth Home Support Program.
