Organisation : Friends for Good Inc
Location : Melbourne (Flinders Lane)
Time required : 2 hours per week
Duration of project : On-going
Sector : Health – General
About the role
Friends for Good is the first national charity working solely on the issue of loneliness. We operate Friend Line, a service for people experiencing loneliness to chat with friendly volunteers. Through social media we have a safe space for conversations to break down the stigma surrounding this issue, which is very detrimental to our health. We also undertake some small scale research and hope to build on all of these activities in the near future. FFG is seeking volunteers to assist us with promotional work. The focus of this currently is advertising Friend Line and will include other services as they develop. Responsibilities include contacting community organisations, governments and the general public to increase understanding and knowledge about what Friends for Good is providing. It will involve organising and speaking at meetings, sending information and working closely with our social media volunteer. If you enjoy public speaking and engaging with a broad range of people and groups then this is the role for you! Training and supervision will be provided. Our office is in the Melbourne CBD and there is flexibility about the days and times of work, however this needs to be negotiated in advance.
