Our Mission / Objective

Our Purpose

Cancer Council Western Australia is WA’s leading cancer charity working across every aspect of every cancer. Our purpose is to work with our community to reduce the incidence and impact of cancer.

Every day, we support families affected by cancer when they need it most, speak out on behalf of the community on cancer issues, empower people to reduce their cancer risk, and find new ways to better detect and treat cancer.

Projects in Progress

Cancer Council WA is the only charity that works across every aspect of every cancer. As a community-funded organisation, we rely on community support to fund our wide range of services and programs, including:

  • Our 13 11 20 Information and Support Line, where experienced Cancer Nurses are available to assist anyone with questions about cancer or needing emotional support
  • Providing accommodation and support services to country cancer patients who need to travel to Perth for treatment at our Crawford and Milroy Lodges
  • Empowering West Australians to reduce their cancer risk through our cancer prevention campaigns such as SunSmart, LiveLighter, Crunch&Sip, Find Cancer Early and Make Smoking History
  • Funding West Australia’s best and brightest cancer researchers who are working towards the next cancer breakthrough
  • Health Professional education and resources
  • Regional cancer education and support through our network of Regional Education Officers and Cancer Support Coordinators
  • Supporting all West Australians affected by cancer through a wide range of support services including;
    • Wig Service
    • Complementary therapies such as massage, reiki, reflexology
    • Life Now exercise and meditative courses
    • Financial and practical assistance
    • Access to Pro Bono Legal or Financial support and advice
    • Cancer Counselling
    • Support groups
    • Our Cancer Support Hubs as metro hospitals and our regional Cancer Support Centres – Dot’s Place Peel and Dot’s Place Bunbury
    • Wellbeing After Cancer program for people needing support and guidance after their treatment has finished

How to help us

Wills and Bequests

Including a charitable gift in your Will is a way to give beyond your life time and to make a lasting contribution towards reducing the incidence and impact of cancer in our community.

Your Will is the only way you can be confident that your affairs will be settled as you wish. It can be a way of expressing your love and concern for your family, friends, close associates or organisations with whom you have a strong affinity or commitment. So whether you have a few possessions, or many, for your peace of mind, you should have a Will. Your gift to Cancer Council WA could play a vital role in contributing towards life-saving cancer research, state-wide prevention programs and providing much-needed support to West Australian families affected by cancer.

Cancer treatments are improving and, overall, survival rates are rising. We are also getting better at understanding how cancer impacts on families, and more is being done to help people survive the emotional impact of cancer. You can be confident that all monies received by Cancer Council WA stay in Western Australia to benefit West Australians.
