How to help us

Wills and Bequests

Bequests

The Australian Centre for Heart Health relies almost entirely upon the generosity of people in the community to support its research and training programs. Bequests, or gifts given to us in your Will, (large or small) make a lasting contribution to the fight against heart disease. A bequest becomes an ongoing memorial to you and your commitment to supporting heart research, ensuring that our research will continue to help reduce preventable deaths and disability from heart disease.

A bequest is a way of ‘touching the future' now.

Make a difference and include a charity in your Will

Leaving a bequest to the Australian Centre for Heart Health will help ensure that its vital heart research will continue well into the future.

Your bequest, no matter the size, will support research to help reduce deaths and disability from heart disease. Bequests are made to charities not only by wealthy people. People with modest means also choose to support charitable causes, including important heart research.

Remember, you can look after your family as well as leaving a bequest to the Australian Centre for Heart Health

Leaving a bequest to a charity does not mean leaving your family and loved ones out of your Will.

Once your family and friends are provided for, you can leave a bequest to your chosen charity.

Help make a difference! Your bequest will fund important research to find out how to prevent heart disease in future generations. Your bequest will also contribute to vital research into identifying ways of helping survivors of heart illness to make a good recovery.

Your support and commitment is helping us provide better care for Australians living with heart disease. We could not achieve this without your help and would like to thank you for being on this journey with us.

The Australian Centre for Heart Health (ACHH) plays a unique role in Australia in tackling cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in Australia.

Our innovative research projects focus on investigating how to manage heart disease and how to prevent a recurrent event, by modifying people’s lifestyles, improving their psychological health and increasing their social support.

Research findings are used to develop tailored programs to improve the quality of life of patients, as well as their families, and to encourage healthy behaviour so we can reduce premature disability and death from heart disease.

We are committed to evidence-informed practice, and share our research results with doctors, nurses and other health professionals through the Centre’s internationally renowned training programs. This helps to ensure that heart patients receive the best community-based care available.

With your help, our research will focus on the following critical areas for the year ahead:

                • Managing depression and anxiety, and improving patients’ quality of life

                • Understanding sleep disorders in cardiac patients

                • Increasing physical activity to improve patients’ cardiovascular health

                • Improving cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention programs

We are also developing a research program in the area of childhood heart disease, which will begin with a project to help parents cope better with their child’s heart condition.

With your support, our investment in research today can help to prevent heart disease and lead to a better quality of life for those living with heart disease.

Thank you once again and best wishes for 2016 to you and your loved ones.
