Our Mission / Objective

Childhood heart disease is the biggest killer of Australian kids under the age of one.

HeartKids works with health professionals all around Australia to provide life-long support to those with childhood heart disease and their families, as well as funding life-changing research, to aspire to a life unaffected by the disease.

Projects in Progress

Every day, 8 babies are born with childhood heart disease in Australia.

HeartKids is dedicated to improving the lives and futures of those affected by childhood heart disease by providing lifelong supportadvocacy, and to give hope by creating awareness and driving world class research.

HeartKids helps by:

  • Funding life-changing research projects into the causes, treatment and management of CHD (to date HeartKids has committed over $2 million of funds to research)

  • Employing Family Support Staff to provide practical and emotional support to families in their times of need

  •  Providing support services in regional and remote areas, giving community based support to families once the return home from hospital

  • Organising family and teen activities such as camps to provide respite and foster important social support networks

  • Conducting annual Education Days to share the latest and most relevant information for families affected by CHD, helping parents to provide the best possible care for their child

  • Assisting families with travel and accommodation needs whilst their children are in hospital

  • Advocating for the needs of CHD to Government, from both a clinical and community perspective.
