Our Mission / Objective

Our mission is to empower young people to make positive life choices that enable them to maximise their personal potential. Through collaborative programming with schools and other community-based organisations, we provide educational, social, mentoring and music opportunities to enhance the academic performance, community connections and career options of young people.

We help young people engage in fun learning environments to explore real life issues with the use of multi-media as a platform of creating peer-led social change.

We are passionate about helping to change the lives of young people as everyone deserves the chance to thrive and live their dream. Our programs objectives are to keep vulnerable youth in school, assist with further educational opportunities and employment pathways. We empower our youth to believe in themselves.

Our Services

Our services include Hip hop music, Film and Dance workshops. We also offer one on one and group mentoring services for vulnerable young people, providing a positive role model that educates and supports through offering a creative element that the youth are passionate about, this may be music, film, dance or art.

Our workshops have a significant impact on young people’s lives and in doing so can act as an instrument in social work and improved life skills. The young people learn self confidence and self-esteem; engaging independently and in-group projects that allow the to set and achieve personal goals.

MUSIC 4 LIFE  (links to learning)

One Vision Productions will deliver a 10 week multimedia program at the schools for students at risk of disengaging from mainstream education.

Over a 10 week period, youth will identify and discuss issues and themes relevant to their lives, collectively and individually write and record hip hop lyrical compositions, engage in dance and performance art, design and film an accompanying film clip which will then be disseminated through the community using traditional and social media channels. Youth learn Ableton Live; create their own beats while being backed by some of the best producers globally.

Through the delivery of hip hop music, music production techniques, and dance and film production workshops, OVP provides a platform for participants to engage in a project that improves school attendance and engagement, enhances self-esteem, confidence and team work, and allows participants to express themselves through language and movement. Our programs are educational, creative, culturally sensitive, engaging, empowering and therapeutic.

One Vision Productions will deliver its Links to Learning project ‘Music 4 Life’ to Mullumbimby High, Lismore High and Richmond River High schools.

In 2016 we received funding through the Indigenous Advancement Strategy to provide Hip Hop and Film workshops to 6 High Schools in the Northern Rivers NSW. Indigenous students in these schools wrote and recorded a song about issues that were important to them and made a film clip to accompany these songs. The other element of this funding allowed One Vision Productions to partner with SAE Institute Australia and created certificate III in music to provide 10 Indigenous Youth the opportunity to complete a certificate in music production. It was a highly successful program and some of these young people are now following on to be mentors for One Vision Productions. We are so proud of what all of these young people have achieved this year and so happy to be providing a platform for youth to engage and express themselves.

We are so thrilled to have been award this funding again for 2017. This year we are not only providing these workshops in schools but offering one on one mentoring session for students that are needing that bit of extra help to be engaged in something they love and help them to continue to attend school.

The Music 4 Change project is part of the Indigenous Advancement Strategy that aims to support local indigenous young people to re-engage with learning opportunities, and to improve attendance and educational outcomes.

2016 Project
Deliver hip hop and film workshops to indigenous students at the following schools; Mullumbimby High, Byron Bay High, Ballina High, Evans River, Richmond River and Casino High schools.

OVP has continued working with some of these young people and they have become mentors for One Vision Productions.

2017 Project
OneVisionProductions will deliver hip hop and film workshops to indigenous students at the following schools: Murwillumbah High, Kingscliff High, Ballina High, Casino High and Evans River schools.

As part of the 2017 Music for Change program, One Vision Productions indigenous mentoring programs will also match vulnerable youth with mentors in the creative industries. Participating youth are matched with professionals in the music, dance, film and visual arts industries. We match the mentors that relate to the individuals culture and skill-set; we believe this is important.

Both one-on-one and group mentoring offers young people an opportunity to engage in relevant and fun activities and the chance to build a support relationship with a non-judgemental adult.

Activities include: skills in music, film and art production, life skills (including educational steps to achieve goals and homework assistance), beat production, dance coaching to whatever the youth aspires to achieve the most. The arts is a way to empower the youth with success, while the mentor helps guide their life at the same time.

This consistent and regular contact with a positive adult role model facilitates improved outcomes and positive life choices.

MENTORING

One Vision Productions mentoring program matches vulnerable youth with mentors in the creative industries.

Participating youth are matched with professionals in the music, dance, film and visual arts industries. The OVP Youth Mentoring Program provides youth with long term mentoring opportunities based on mutual interests, respect and trust.

Mentors are selected based on their personal experience and skills in their chosen field, their capacity to commit to long term mentoring (up to 12 months) as well as their interpersonal skills working with young people. OVP’s careful selection process, training and ongoing support ensures the quality of our mentors, and their capacity to become positive adult role models for young people.

Both one on one and group mentoring offers young people an opportunity to engage in relevant and fun activities, and the chance to build a support relationship with a non judgemental adult. This consistent and regular contact with a positive adult role model facilitates improved outcomes for health and wellbeing, education, employment and positive life choices.

OVP is very passionate about this program, there is such a need for this positive, life changing work and we know from experience how effective this program is in empowering and supporting young people to reach their full potential.

HIP-HOP (ELEMENT 3)

One Vision Productions hip-hop lyrical workshops are based around self-empowerment. We explore the issues that are going on in the participants lives and turn these concepts into songs.

Over 6 sessions the young people will learn to use audio platforms, create beats, learn how to write songs, use cameras, create a film-clip, explore the power of words and above all develop a passion for English literature; ‘to be an MC one must master the art of words.’

We finish the workshops with the young people developing a professional song and film clip – these have been aired on NITV. Our artists are well known professionals in the music industry and we love conducting these workshops throughout Australia. The young people also love these workshops as it gives them a platform for their voices to be heard and be actively apart of creating change. Please see our youth film clips.

Our workshops are tailored to suit the needs of your school and within a timeframe that suits.

DANCE (ELEMENT 2)

Our multiple award winning program focuses on using dance for change using self-empowerment at the forefront while working with and developing the young people’s key strengths to deal with issues that they are individually facing along with what the community is facing.

One Vision Productions brings together some of Australia’s most well-known established hip-hop dance artists.

Dance workshops leave the youth confident and ready to aspire to different parts of themselves that they never knew was possible.

If your school wants to be a part of something fun, stimulating and engaging, that will help change the young people’s lives than this is something they will never forget and a chance to work with some of Australia’s best. Our OVP dance workshops can be tailored to suit your school’s needs. The participants create a dance that sets a platform for future opportunities while giving them a chance to express themselves amongst their peers.

(ELEMENT 3)

Element 3 offers the students to participate in all of the Elements – Music, Dance and Film components. All together these elements are an amazing experience and provide the youth with an opportunity to really reach their full potential as in individual and as part of a team.

Participants of our workshops have made effective anti-drinking and drug campaigns, anti-violence and bullying messages that have been displayed nationally as we promote youth to be self-empowered and become leaders of social change. This platform provides effective and inspiring ways for youth to take control of their lives and create social change for their generation.

SUSTAINABILITY:
Optional: As part of this package we can leave a recording studio for the youth to continue making music in our absence. This allows for a sustainable program as we train someone e.g. music teacher, to use the studio equipment. We can mentor an individual to keep the program running so more young people have the opportunity to engage in this amazing program.
