NFP Finance Forum - Sustainable Funding Strategies - Special Offer

There’s a lot of promotion currently going on in the sector that seems to be propping up the status quo and suggesting that there is little to fear from the downturn when the opposite is closer to the truth, according to Givewell’s Michael Walsh.

Walsh says Givewell’s upcoming 3rd Nonprofit Finance Forum will look at the real effects of the downturn.

He says the first and second forums warned of an impending downturn in the economy.

He says this forum will flesh out the considerable challenges the recession poses for the sector in more detail as well as spend time on strategic responses like mergers and new operating models.

Walsh says this will be a no holding back affair.

He says a tougher fundraising climate, changing government policy, imminent budget deficits and unprecedented falls in investment and property valuations – are worrying challenges for financial management in the Not for Profit sector – just when the need for its services is likely to escalate.

Add to this, he says, calls for greater accountability and disclosure, combined with changes in accounting standards and other government enquiries, and it’s clear that Not for Profit executives have a lot on their plate.

The Nonprofit Finance Forum will take place on the East Coast in March 2009.

Now in its third year, this low-cost event is presented by Givewell to stimulate discussion and put forward ideas on strategic financial management; with a particular emphasis on confronting the challenges of a global economic recession. The Forum offers a unique opportunity to spend time with a large number of third-sector senior financial managers and decision-makers – combining both a local and national perspective.

The 2008 Forums presented in partnership with NonProfit Australia were held in five States and attracted a combined audience of 800 sector professionals.

This year’s line-up features a number of current and former CEOs with experience in both the NFP and business sectors. They are supported by research and investment specialists who have committed themselves to understanding and supporting this area.

The forums will be held in Melbourne (11 March), Sydney (12 March) and Brisbane (19 March). Information on speakers, topics, venues and registration costs can be obtained from the Forum Brochure available for download below.

Special Offer: Givewell is offering Pro Bono Australia readers a 10% discount on the registration fee.
