Financial Planners Launch Future2 Foundation
29 November 2007 at 2:13 pm

Future2, the foundation of the Australian financial planning profession will be formally launched at the end of the month.

The Foundation has already been recognised by the Australian Tax Office for Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status.

Future2 Trustee Peter Bobbin, a lawyer with The Argyle Partnership says any donation of $2 or more to Future2 now qualifies as a gift for which the donor may claim a tax deduction.

Bobbin says Future2’s DGR status will provide a further incentive for both corporate and individual donors who wish to support Future2’s work with Australians – especially young Australians – who are disadvantaged.

Future2 was granted fundraising authority by the NSW Office of Charities in April 2007.

Peter Bobbin says Future2 exists to support the financially under-privileged and to enable the financial planning profession and associated stakeholders to give back to the community from which they draw their livelihoods.

He says a key factor differentiating Future2 from other foundations is the strong link it wants to establish with Financial Planners Association members who will help with project identification, fundraising and promoting the foundation’s work in the community.

He says financial planners can make a positive difference to the lives of those in need in a number of ways:
– Financial support to worthy causes
– Financial planners giving pro-bono assistance
– As a vehicle for client philanthropy
– Workplace giving or matching programs

Future2 will be formally launched on 30 November at the FPA National Conference.

At the launch, the foundation will announce grants to grassroots community projects, selected from applications which have been identified and endorsed by FPA Chapters around Australia.

The end of conference gala dinner, SydneyLIVE!, will be Future2’s inaugural fundraising event.
