Book Now! Places filling fast! The Australian Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (ACCSR) and Pro Bono Australia are jointly-hosting a Masterclass on Tuesday 30 October for the Not for Profit sector in Melbourne.
In this afternoon Masterclass, international expert Paul Hohnen will detail what Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) means to the Third Sector and will explore trends in NFP accountability; how NFPs can implement CSR in their own organisations; opportunities for increasing NFP leverage with the government and business sector.
The Masterclass will feature a special presentation from Emer Diviney who will outline the Brotherhood of St Laurence’s experiences in adopting a corporate responsibility framework and the related accountability and advocacy opportunities and challenges.
Participants will benefit from:
– A unique opportunity for cross-issue NFP peer group discussion, sharing and learning on campaigning, accountability, and coordination issues
– Clarity on emerging accountability codes and related tools
– Identification of potential joint approaches and initiatives, including on policy advocacy.
Background:
Australian NFPs have been at the edge of policy analysis and campaign innovation. In their focus on specific issues, however, they have not always had time to track how calls for greater accountability might affect them as well. Nor have they been able to assess and coordinate on non-campaign issues. Against the background of the rising demand for increased NFP accountability and effectiveness, the workshop will address these and related opportunities.
Paul Hohnen is well known in international NGO circles for his work as Political Director of Greenpeace International (1993-1997), and in setting up the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Most recently, he was invited by a coalition of international advocacy organisations to draft an Accountability Charter for NFPs.
