Call for Australian CSR Peak Body - Advertorial
30 January 2006 at 12:01 pm

Australia’s Inaugural CSR Summit last month has forged a movement to establish a peak body for corporate social responsibility within Australia, along with an Annual Summit, regular networking and educational events.

Almost 400 registered for the Summit which saw over 50 specialist speakers from Australia, UK, USA and Canada delivered the business case for corporate social responsibility showing how and why CSR is the new business driver for success.

The opening keynote address by Ray Anderson, Founder and Chairman of the world’s largest carpet manufacturing company – Interface, set the scene for the Summit with one of the world’s best case studies of CSR in action. Anderson has been leading the charge within the industrial world to be the first fully sustainable company with a zero footprint by the year 2020.

The focus of most speakers was more on business strategy rather than bolt on-programs such as sponsorship and corporate community investment. One presentation however that focused on the benefits of corporate community was the marketing driven CSR presentation by the CEO of Brand Advantage Martin McKinnon. Martin is the former Marketing Manager of Qantas and used the Qantas Spirit of Australia case study to deliver his point.

For Pro Bono Australia readers who may have missed Martin and other Summit speakers, Martin’s session can be viewed free of charge via the web. Simply refer http://www.csrsummit.com/csr_rego.html Access to all other case studies including Ray Anderson, can be purchased via the Summit website.

Planning is now underway for a follow up Summit for 2006, so if you are interested in presenting a case study, would like to sponsor the event or somehow play a part, call the Summit Director Anne-Maree Huxley on 03 9876 7073.

Pro Bono Australia is pleased to be a foundation supporter for Australia’s CSR Summit.
