Victorian Communities Online Survey

The Department for Victorian Communities has commissioned KPMG to undertake a major research project into the scope and profile of social and community enterprise activity in the Victorian Not for Profit sector.

The research project is called “Victorian Not for Profits: An enterprising sector”

As part of the research an online survey has been developed to gather information about the different ways Not for Profits use enterprise or commercial activity to help meet their mission and purpose including:

– employment and training enterprises

– various types of cooperatives and associations

– non-profit or community owned businesses, such as opportunity shops,

– retail outlets, or

– innovative enterprise models that may include community business

– partnerships and deliver services including mentoring and structured work experience.

Jeff Rich is the Community Enterprise Manager with the Department for Victorian Communities. He says the data from the survey and research project will help Government understand the sector better and provide a sound basis for collaboration with the sector to develop policy that supports the sector’s important work

A large sample of Victorian community organisations have been mailed an invitation to participate in the online survey.

Rich says the contribution of Victorian Not for Profits to this work is important and he invite organisations to call KPMG’s survey hotline 1800 466 345 to discuss how organisations can participate.

Once registered with KPMG you will receive a log in password. For organisations with a social enterprise, the online survey is expected to take 20-30 minutes. For other organisations the survey will take 15 minutes.

The Department says the research is expected to be finalised by the end of the year. The results will be provided to participants and a summary published.
