CIVICUS Survey - September 11
3 June 2002 at 1:06 pm

CIVICUS, the world alliance for citizen participation is calling on Australian Not for Profits to take part in a survey of the impact of September 11 on civil society organisations around the world!

CIVICUS is an international alliance of civil society organisations dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society throughout the world.

Secretary General and CEO, Kumi Naidoo says that in response to the terrorist attacks on September 11 2001, CIVICUS together with fifty international civil society organisations issued a statement on the tragedy in the US that has been subsequently signed by several hundred organisations around the world.

Since then, it has been closely monitoring the repercussions of these events and its aftermath on civil society worldwide and disseminating this information to a broad audience.

The organisation initiated in 2002 a bimonthly electronic news service, called CIVIL SOCIETY WATCH DIGEST, which is part of its overall program to support civil society organisations when they are under threat around the world.

As a crucial part of these activities, CIVICUS would like to get an assessment on how September 11 has affected the work of civil society organisations (CSOs) by conducting a survey titled: Civil Society After September 11: Any Change?

The survey is expected to take about ten minutes to complete on line at www.rogator.de/civicus.

Pro Bono Australia will follow the progress of the survey and its final report.
