While it is not always easy to find a well-known face to promote your organisation in the public arena, Marie Stopes International appears to be on a celebrity ‘high’ with the announcement of its latest Australian recruit.

Well known Australian actress/comedian Tania Lacy, who is known for her quick-witted one-woman shows, has agreed to promote the cause Down Under of the reproductive health charity.

Lacy joins a list of celebrities promoting the cause of Marie Stopes around the world including Geri Halliwell of Spice Girls fame and Dame Judi Dench.

According to the organisation, Lacy’s role with MSIA will be as spokesperson, promoting women’s choice and enabling women to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.

Lacy says she wants women to talk freely about their sexual and reproductive issues and at the same time highlight the plight of disadvantaged women throughout the world.

MSIA says new initiatives involving Australia’s indigenous community will become operational in the near future.
