Global software provider Blackbaud says the new BlackbaudNow program  (www.bbnow.com.au) lets organisations, such as the local cricket club or start-up charity, build their own websites and start accepting online donations with PayPal in as little as five minutes.

Blackbaud says many Not for Profits do not use the web for fundraising. According to a report by Connecting Up Australia, only 27 percent of Not for Profits sell goods and services online while as little as 22 percent use the Internet for fundraising.

John O’Donnell, Blackbaud Pacific’s managing director says they have developed BlackbaudNow in partnership with PayPal to give small charities and community groups a simple tool to kick-start their online fundraising efforts.

O’Donnell says Not for Profits can sign up for BlackbaudNow to create a website, accept online donations, track their supporters, and get their message out to supporters – without any upfront financial investment.

He says there is no set-up charge or monthly fees. Instead, Not for Profits pay a low fee on a per-transaction basis based on the volume of online donations.  The cost is said to be between 3-4% for each individual donation received via the website.

Blackbaud launched the DIY Website Builder in the US in June 2009 and the company says some 2000 charities have taken the program.

Paypal says more than 100,000 Not for Profits around the globe already use PayPal for payment processing, including organisations such as The Smith Family, Movember and Koala Hospital in Australia.

Glenn Lim, general manager of global alliances for PayPal says many of their existing Not for Profit customers have found that using PayPal increases the size of their average donation and lowers the cost of acquiring new donors.
