Optus Community Grants Open
22 June 2011 at 11:37 am
Not for Profit organisations are being called on to apply for the 2011 Optus Connecting Communities Grants Program.
The annual Optus Connecting Communities Program provides $150,000 worth of funding to support community projects that assist disengaged youth and build social inclusion, with each successful applicant will be awarded up to $5,000 to boost their initiative.
Jann Kohlman, Group Manager of Optus Sponsorship and Community Programs says grants will be awarded to organisations that can deliver positive social outcomes aligned with Optus’s community investment focus areas. These include promoting social inclusion and building a better future for disengaged youth through new opportunities, skills and confidence, access to education and removal of barriers to empowerment.
Kohlman says they hope that the funding, together with the benefits of communications technology, can deliver positive social outcomes to the community and help improve lives.
Since launching the Community Grants program in 2008, Optus has awarded $400,000 worth of funding to 85 organisations – including providing 31 grants in 2010.
Local community and Not for Profit organisations can apply online by visiting http://communitygrants.optus.com.au.
Applications close on 12 August 2011.
