Coca Cola Community Grants Open To Support Marginalised Youth

The Coca-Cola Australia Foundation (CCAF) is calling for applications for its 2012 community grants program.

With up to forty community grants of up to $10,000 on offer every year, CAFF says the program provides financial support to local organisations and projects that aim to make a positive difference in the lives of marginalised young Australians.

CCAF says it is committed to funding projects that are “ambitious, innovative and unique” in their approach to inspiring change for marginalised youth in Australia.

CCAF says it hopes to inspire change in areas of education, leadership, wellbeing and environment by focusing on four core areas of marginalisation, including social/economic, marginalisation amongst indigenous youth, physical/geographic marginalisation as well as mental health issues and youth depression.

Mission Australia’s Triple Care Farm, which supports young people experiencing homelessness, substance abuse and mental health issues, is a previous recipient of CCAF’s community grants program.

Mission Australia says that the funding has allowed young people at the Triple Care Farm to find and use their creative voice.

“Enabling them to tell their stories of courage, develop new skills and make significant progress towards their goals of long term employment and training,” Mission Australia said in a statement.

“We encourage all organisations that support marginalised youth to apply for a Coca-Cola Australia Foundation Community Grant.”

CCAF says that the community grants program attracts 30 per cent of CCAF’s annual $1.1 million funding. The remaining funding supports the National Grants program, working with partners on a larger scale.

CCAF chairman Jim Bird said: “Together we can make a positive difference in the lives of these young Australians and in doing so assist them as individuals and in turn their wider communities, to fulfil their greatest potential.”
