A Sydney charity which supports disadvantaged women in preparation for job interviews has received $570,000 in scholarships as part of a new partnership with vocational education and training organisation, The Australasian College Broadway.

Dress for Success Sydney will receive a $100,000 scholarship package accompanied by a $5,000 in-kind donation for the improvement of its online presence.

The initiative also includes free style makeovers at The College to every Dress for Success client in preparation for job interviews, valued at $465,000 over the next 12 months.

The scholarships were announced by the Australasian College’s founder and co-chair, Maureen Houssein-Mustafa OAM, at the Dress for Success Sydney annual gala dinner on October 12.

On announcing the scholarships Houssein-Mustafa said: “The $100,000 in scholarships will enhance the lives of women in Sydney by enabling them to access industry qualifications in a variety of fields including beauty or makeup, giving them head start to their career.”

“We want women to be aware of the opportunities available to them, and through these initiatives we are able to offer life-changing assistance to kick start their career and their journey to financial independence,” Houssein-Mustafa said.

Chair of Dress for Success Sydney Megan Etheridge said that the organisation was proud to enhance the lives of its clients through the provision of scholarship assistance and style makeovers.

Etheridge said the initiative will will help build the confidence of women as they prepare to enter the job market.
