Students interested in leading organisations with social purpose and creating social value across sectors now have the chance to receive a scholarship to help fund their studies.

The scholarships, worth a total of $50,000, will be made available to applicants who enrol in the 2013 Graduate Certificate in Social Impact (CSI) at one of the Centre for Social Impact’s university partners: the Australian School of Business at UNSW, Swinburne University of Technology, UWA Business School and Melbourne Business School.

2012 NAB Scholarship recipient Jo Dettmann works with OzHarvest, a Not for Profit organisation that rescues food and redistributes it to agencies that assist those in need.

Dettmann was selected to become one of four Australians to participate in the 2012 Vodafone Foundation World of Difference program.

"There is no doubt the NAB Scholarship to study at the Centre for Social Impact helped strengthen my application to the World of Difference program, (which in turn) has allowed me to effectively integrate key learnings from my study in a very practical way at OzHarvest,” she said.

"None of this would have been possible without the support of both the Vodafone Foundation and the National Australia Bank.”

Worth between $5,000 and $10,000, the scholarships have been donated by the Macquarie Group Foundation, Commonwealth Bank, PwC, NAB, AMP, Kim Williams and Catherine Dovey, Freehills, Shark Island Foundation, BHP Billiton and Foxtel.

The Commonwealth Bank Foundation Manager Wendy Mason said the CBA Group was proud to support the scholarship to a candidate who is currently working in the Not for Profit sector.

“The recipient will develop skills to plan and drive social impact initiatives,” she said.

Students must enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Social Impact to apply.
