Tracy Howe, the former head of peak body Domestic Violence NSW, will be taking on the top job at the Council of Social Service of NSW.

NCOSS said that while Howe was leading DV NSW (formerly Women’s Refuge Movement NSW), she was instrumental in driving organisational change, leaving the peak body in a stronger position to advocate for those working in the domestic and family violence field to achieve outcomes for women and children.

It also said Howe has extensive experience in homelessness sector and early intervention for women and children experiencing domestic violence.

She has a legal background, and is committed to human rights advocacy, addressing community disadvantage and gender inequality, and working towards eradicating violence against women, NCOSS said.

NCOSS President Eileen Baldry said Howe’s skills and experience would be a fantastic asset to the organisation.

“We are very excited to have Tracy on board and look forward to her bringing her significant expertise to the task of leading NCOSS into the future,” she said.

Howe currently sits on the NSW Government's Domestic and Family Violence Council and the Premier's Council on Homelessness and she is the NSW non-government representative on National Plan Implementation Panel for the Australian Government's National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children 2010-2022.

She is also a representative on WESNET, co-convenor of NSW Women's Alliance and part of the Australian Women Against Violence Alliance’s Advisory Group.

Howe starts at NCOSS on June 30 allowing for a short transitional period with outgoing CEO Alison Peters.
