Charity Has Goat to Be Kidding

Charity Christmas albums are as much a staple of the festive season as eating too much and taking part in awkward conversations with relatives you only see once a year.
But one charity has decided that the traditional Christmas carols could be improved on – by enlisting the help of a choir of singing goats of course.
The Swedish branch of humanitarian charity ActionAid, has released an album, entitled All I Want for Christmas is a Goat, made up of tunes sung entirely by screaming goats.
Collection Manager at ActionAid Sweden, Miriam Isaksson, said the record was made to draw attention to the impact a goat could have on an impoverished community.
“Today, the goat is a modern classic that has improved conditions for scores of people around the world,” Isaksson said.
“To draw attention to what we can do together to reduce poverty in the world, ActionAid [has created] the year's most important Christmas album, All I Want for Christmas is a Goat.”
While the goats’ renditions of tunes like Joy to the World and Silent Night will likely traumatise listeners’ eardrums, Isaksson said it was all for a good cause.
“ActionAid is an international organization that for 40 years has been fighting poverty and injustice. In all our projects and campaigns we always have the greatest focus on supporting poor and vulnerable women and girls,” Isaksson said.
"A Christmas album is of course something we do with a twinkle in our eye, while we want to show how important a goat can be for people living in poverty.
"A goat could be the fresh start that a family needs to take the first step out of poverty.
"Goats survive in harsh climates where it is too dry to grow crops, they are easy to breed and give vital milk, just to name a few examples."
All I want for Christmas is a Goat can be purchased on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon, with all proceeds going towards helping ActionAid continue its humanitarian work.
