Michelle is a proud Gomeroi woman born in Moree, New South Wales. She is the assistant secretary of the Aged Care Indigenous Programs and Collaborations Branch at the Department of Health and Aged Care. Prior, Michelle led the COVID-19 response and vaccination implementation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and remote communities. She also represented Australia at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues and the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. She is also an fellow of the Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity program, working on a project assisting women on their exit from prison.
