A festival of journalism and storytelling
We hear this all the time from nonprofits: You’ve got the mission down solid — your organisation is doing inspiring work that’s demonstrably making the world a better place. You just need help telling your story, or getting people to listen.
What if you could take a page from the media and learn how it’s done from the best editors and journalists across Australia and the world?
Enter Storyology, the Walkley Foundation’s annual festival of journalism and storytelling. It’s two full days of intensive skill-building and conversations about how the media works today. At Storyology, you’ll make media connections as you trade cards and coffees with top journalists throughout the day. You’ll catch up on the latest social media strategies, get savvy about data, and get the secrets to crafting compelling narratives. At our essential industry panels, you’ll learn about how newsrooms are changing, the intersection between politics and media, and more. We’ve got stars from legacy media, new media, the freelance world and social platforms including:
- Simon Elvery, ABC Digital Interactive Storytelling Team
- Michelle Duff, Freelance journalist and columnist
- Irene Jay Liu, APAC lead, Google News Lab (Hong Kong)
- Caro Meldrum-Hanna, Investigative reporter, ABC Four Corners
- Tonya Mosley, Senior Silicon Valley correspondent (US)
- Mark Willacy, Investigative reporter, ABC
In 2017 the Walkleys are running a full program in Brisbane as well as Sydney — get your full two-day pass for either city today. And budget-strapped nonprofits can rejoice, because prices have dropped dramatically!
One last thing for Brisbane folks — don’t forget to treat yourself and a friend to some great conversations with Storyology After Dark (a magazine coming to life onstage) and panels on art, Queensland corruption, and Donald Trump at Storyology Saturday.
