In Victoria, the Melbourne City Council has launched a web site that aims to tap into the city’s generous spirit and link up people with new ways of ‘donating’.

Giving.com says the ways of fundraising have changed and that new ways of giving are being chartered such as giving time, energy, thought, skills or just lending a hand.

The web site leads people to organisations and then links them to volunteer activities. As well, the site has links to the Council’s own Lord Mayor’s Charitable Fund, the Melbourne Community Foundation, Philanthropy Australia, and Volunteering Victoria.

It also has some interesting historical snippets about Victoria’s philanthropic activities over the past one hundred years. Check out the site at www.giving.com.au.
