'Media On a Shoestring' - Winner!
16 July 2007 at 4:44 pm

Not all media encounters are successful or a disaster but our Not for Profit readers sure have some stories to tell about their media adventures.

Thanks to all those who entered our competition for a chance to win a copy of “Media On A Shoestring”…we are still chuckling over some of the entries!

And the winner, as judged by the authors and publishers – Media Team Australia – is Linda Woodrow, the Executive Officer of the Community Technology Centres Association, in Kyogle in NSW. Congratulations!

Here’s her entry!

Our best media experience was a media event staged in Kyogle to highlight the need for better broadband in the bush. It was a race between Telstra and a pigeon to carry some photos from Kyogle to the neighbouring town of Casino. The photos were put onto a flashcard and strapped to the pigeon’s leg. At “Go” the pigeon was released, and we pressed “Send” on the computer. The winner was the first to have the photos printed in Casino. The pigeon won, by about 5 hours and several drop-outs. It got national media coverage, which was continued when the pigeon went on to lay an egg the next day!
