The new hub for information and resources for people with intellectual disability has been co-designed with the disability community to meet their needs.
A new online hub will provide a one-stop-shop to support the mental health of people living with intellectual disability.
Called My Lived iD, the site was launched by the Centre for Developmental Disability Health at Monash Health and is designed to provide people with intellectual disability with access to information, resources, and healthcare services to support their mental health and deliver better wellbeing outcomes.
Carers, family members, friends and healthcare professionals are also encouraged to use the My Lived iD website to support people living with intellectual disability.
The website also offers a range of free learning courses.
“We’ve heard firsthand that people with intellectual disability may be missing out on mental health support due to difficulties navigating and researching information and services”, said Reece Adams, head of the Centre for Developmental Disability Health.
He said My Lived iD would specifically cater for the needs of people with intellectual disability and would be easy to navigate.
It was co-designed with the input of stakeholders from the disability community, Adams said, and has a number of key accessibility tools, including easy to read English and 14 other languages, font size and contrast adjustment options, and a ‘listen button’ on top of pages.
Service providers can also use My Lived iD as a platform to share information that can be accessible for people with intellectual disability, and mental health services are able to request that their service be listed in the directory.
