The Election and Remote Work: Key Trends from the 2025 Salary Survey

There may come a time when we look back and wonder how we ever spent so many hours commuting to and from the office. With that in mind, this year’s Pro Bono Australia Salary Survey included a new question for Not for Profit employees across the country:

“On average, how many days do you work remotely?”

We know many managers and boards are still grappling with how best to manage remote and hybrid work. What’s reasonable to offer? What are others doing? Alongside salary and benefits, flexibility is now a major negotiation point for both current and future employees.

The survey closed last week, with 852 people from across the NFP and social enterprise sectors taking part. Here’s a sneak peek at what they had to say:

• 72% of respondents work remotely at least one day per week

• 12% work remotely five days a week

• 7% work remotely four days a week

• 13% work remotely three days a week

• 18% work remotely two days a week

• 22% work remotely one day a week

Respondents represented organisations of all sizes—from small teams to large ones with over 500 staff. Most respondents (68%) work full time, and 88% are working three days or more per week.

“It will be interesting to monitor this movement in our sector over the years to come,” said Karen Mahlab AM, Founder of Pro Bono Australia. “The option to work remotely reflects profound changes in how we work and opens the door to new ways of thinking.
