Rethinking Business Models With Purpose – Conference
22 November 2016 at 11:41 am

Returning to Sydney for the second year in a row, the Purpose 2016 conference, taking place on the 5 and 6 December, is the place for purpose-driven businesses.

Sally Hill, co-founder of Wildwon, the meaningful experience agency and creator/curator of Purpose said: “We created Purpose because we saw a need for a platform where people and companies who are driving purpose into the very core of their business models can come together”.

Purpose creates a space where like-minded individuals and change makers can interact and learn in a meaningful and lasting way. The result: giving people the knowledge, the smarts and the tools to help them succeed and scale in their own goals.

“Mind blowing, thought-provoking, primer for public personal epiphanies, infectious and completely game changing! It’s the heroin of conferences.” – Tracey Robinson, Purpose 2015 attendee.

We see that the future belongs to companies that solve problems, not create new ones. This event will allow people to connect with those looking to rethink business models, shift corporate cultures and rewrite the role of brands and organisations to be purpose driven.

The argument for placing purpose front and centre of your business model is one that’s hard to reckon with. Benefits are wide-reaching.

Recent studies indicate 90 per cent of consumers would boycott if they learned of a company’s irresponsible business practices, with 55 per cent having done so in the past 12 months.

From an employee point of view, having a purpose allows you to get (and keep) the best employees, with a workforce that is more engaged and more satisfied, ultimately resulting in employees who are three times more likely to stay with the company.

We’re also seeing a big demographic shift, with a lot set to change. We can’t ignore the fact that millennials are the most purpose-oriented group to enter the workforce. Forbes suggests that by 2025, 75 per cent of the workforce will be millennials. We’ll be delving into this mindset and discover why – and how – purpose-driven individuals are driving the sustainable brand revolution.

Along with Meaning and the Millennial Mindset, this year’s event will cover a range of themes that are front of mind for people who believe in better business for the 21st Century including techno-logic to cathedral thinking, the business of design to cultures of transformation.

Sally Hill has hand picked those who are doing good and doing it great to lead and inspire and audience aiming to build and nurture sustainable enterprises.

With over 10 keynote presentations, and 60 speakers, the event will consist of a combination of all-in plenaries and smaller, intimate breakout sessions and workshops, with attendees being able to select and attend sessions that speak to them and their goals.

This year we’re excited to be hearing from speakers from organisations including Thankyou, Virgin Australia, Mindfulness Everywhere, Intrepid Travel and Community Bank. Side events include Plant Planet workshop – combining food and art to learn about zero-waste, The Book Pharmacy at the Bar, where our resident Book Pharmacist will create tailored prescriptions for workshop participants, and The School of Life hosting a Psychology of Leadership session.

The event, taking place on December 5 + 6, will take over and celebrate two days in four unique Paddington locations that are often out of bounds: Paddington Town Hall, Chauvel Cinema, Paddington Reservoir and the family-owned, heritage listed Juniper Hall.

This event attracts individuals, not for profit organisations, B Corps, small to medium enterprises, conscious capitalism businesses and large corporates and government agencies, all with a commitment to CSR and purpose-led transformation.

“Honestly the best conference I have ever been to. So good, in fact, that I feel like calling it a conference was a disservice to what it actually was” – Kyra Maya Phillips, Author.
