Gartner’s survey data from April to June 2024 shows that only 14% of employees feel their workplace fosters innovation—down nearly 10% from 24.5% in 2021. These three factors have been the top drivers for attraction in Australia for three consecutive quarters, with employees looking to retain personal control over their working conditions. The pandemic’s long-term impact on work habits and the rise of remote work have contributed to this shift in employee expectations.

In addition, overall employee wellness has continued to decline, from 31.1% in Q4 2023 to 29.3% in Q2 2024, indicating that many employees are feeling mentally and physically drained by their work environments.
