The Australian Nonprofit Data Project was a collaborative research project between the Centre for Australian Community Organisations and Management (CACOM) at the University of Technology, Sydney and the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The information it gathered has now been published in a book called ‘Dimensions of Australia’s Third Sector’.

The report by Mark Lyons, a Professor of Social Economy at the University of Technology, Sydney, and Susan Hocking provides the first comprehensive data on Australia’s Third Sector including numbers of organisations, employment, income including its main sources, expenditure, contribution to the GDP, support received from volunteers and donations.

It includes a full discussion of the sources of data and their reliability.

This volume follows on from an earlier book published by Mark Lyons called the Third Sector that offers the first overview of the Australian scene.

It traces their development and how they are governed, staffed and financed. It reviews the many ways in which third sector organisations contribute to the economy, to society and to politics and provides the first data on their economic contribution in Australia.

This latest publication Dimensions of Australia’s Third Sector costs $30 including postage and GST. If you would like an order form, send us an e-mail at probono@probonoaustralia.com.au.
