The School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) Australia has announced the appointment of Celia Hodson as its new Chief Executive Officer.

SSE Australia says that Hodson joins the school with a wealth of experience as a business person, entrepreneur and founder of one of the UK's most successful social enterprise schools, The Eastern Enterprise Hub.

During her time at The Eastern Enterprise Hub, SSE says Hodson established SSE East, meaning she is already part of the SSE global family with firsthand experience of supporting and advocating for social entrepreneurs.

Hodson says she is “thrilled” to have been offered the opportunity to work with SSE.

“SSE Australia has had an amazing journey so far and I'm really looking forward to bringing my experience and sector specific leadership to empowering social change," Hodson said.

Chair of SSE Australia’s Founding Partner Group, Jan Owen, says Hodson is a well- known and respected leader in the UK Third Sector and social entrepreneurship field.

“We very much look forward to welcoming Celia to SSE Australia and to her contribution to the advancement of social entrepreneurship in Australia,” Owen said.

Hodson’s former UK-based roles have included chief executive at Cambridge Co-operative Development Agency, deputy chief executive at the Social Enterprise Coalition and chief executive of Choose Suffolk.

She is also said to have held numerous board positions with UK based nonprofits and social enterprises.

Hodson is due to start with SSE in early July.
