Footnote on our 'Giving' Poll
28 May 2001 at 1:05 pm

A follow up on the Givewell survey that showed an increase in giving trends saw a flurry at our on-site Instant Poll with 23% of organisations agreeing they had experienced the 17% increase in donations.

However a huge 71% voted NO indicating they were not seeing the increase in a culture of giving through hard $$$.

Michael Walsh, the Executive Director of Givewell says he can challenge the results with research figures that show 61% of Not for Profits had increased fundraising income in 2000 compared to 1999. His survey comes from a sample size of 283 organisations.

Walsh says the real work now is in educating the community about the increased needs of charities rather than crying poor.

Thanks again to all those who took part in the poll.

This week the new Instant Poll is: Are you using e-mail to communicate with your existing donors?
