Showcasing the Community Sector
10 September 2007 at 2:24 pm

VCOSS and the Victorian Government is hosting a one day event showcasing the use of pro bono services and community networking to build stronger communities.

The event is called Clever Ideas for Community Organisations and will take place in Melbourne on Thursday September 27th and in Ballarat on Thursday October 4th.

The event will showcase examples of innovation in the community sector, sharing clever and efficient examples of collaboration and partnership to build organisational capacity and reduce operational costs.

Participants will learn where to go for support and advice on how to recruit a skilled volunteer to work in your organisation. Pro bono brokers who specialise in placing skilled volunteers in Not for Profit organisations will be on hand to provide information.

Plus participants will hear real-life examples of the benefits of volunteer placements and also get practical tips on how to work effectively with other community organisations to reduce costs and increase organisational efficiency and effectiveness.

Representatives of Victorian Pro Bono Broker organisations will introduce their organisation and highlight their differences from each other. Groups include Leadership Victoria, Oxfam Skill Share, Non Profit Australia, Leadership Ballarat, PILCH, Pro Bono Australia, Ballarat Cares and many more.

For further information please contact: Kate Johnson or Nicole Wiseman at VCOSS on 9654 5050.
