The Fundraising Institute Australia (FIA) has released the draft Standard of Charitable telemarketing Fundraising Practice for public consultation.

As the first year of the Do Not Call Register concludes draws to a close, FIA has released the draft Standard of Charitable Telemarketing Fundraising Practice for public consultation.

This draft Standard has been written as a guideline for best practice, in line with the requirements of the Australian Communications and Media Authority’s (ACMA) Industry Standard 2007.

The FIA says input into the development of the Standard of Charitable Telemarketing will enhance the integrity of the Standard as a guideline to best practice for charities, charitable telemarketers and suppliers of charitable telemarketing.

It says professional fundraising needs to be driven by the highest standard in order to protect the reputation of charities and to ensure public maintain their trust and confidence in the sector.

The draft Standard of Charitable Telemarketing Fundraising Practice can be found at www.fia.org.au under public education or http://www.fia.org.au/Content/NavigationMenu/EventFlyers/DraftStandardofCharitableTelemarketing-Release29January2008.pdf

Please submit comments in writing to Stephanie Wong, Policy and Standard Administrative Officer at swong@fia.org.au or PO Box 642, Chatswood 2057 by 5 March 2008.
