Many Not for Profit organisations are hampered by lean budgets, large work loads and short timeframes and finding time and budget for staff education can be neglected when other seemingly more pressing issues demand attention.

However, Not for Profit leaders know they cannot ignore their own and their staff’s ongoing training if they want to build robust and sustainable organisations.

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is an independent Not for Profit organisation providing services to help strengthen the NFP sector. SVA workshops are for NFP leaders and managers. They’re short, sharp and focused to make sure the time executives spend out of the office makes time in the office easier and more effective.

SVA workshops build business skills by providing executives with best practice tools and management know-how. Workshops are kept small so that every participant can work through their business challenges in the workshop and get real time feedback on their issues. SVA’s experienced facilitators make sure participants walk out the door with new and applicable skills and knowledge, as well as wider circle of peer relationships.

There are five workshop topics in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth in 2008.

Planning and Evaluation Workshop – NEW
A 2 day intensive workshop which will overhaul the way you look at your organisation and the techniques you have for making decisions. You’ll unpack your program logic, review organisational capacity, and look at how to make strategy planning and evaluation really deliver benefits.

Organisation Building & Growth Workshop – NEW
This is a 1 day workshop for those who want to grow their organisations. Focus on your organisation’s challenges with regard to growth, assess the best way to go about building what you do, and look at the relationships and processes you’ll need to achieve growth.

Financial Management – Workshop
A 1 day workshop that gives you the resources you need to understand and prudently manage the financial operations of your organisation. Perfect for leaders who don’t have a background in accounting.

Funding Strategy
This high energy 1 day workshop will deliver a boost to your fund-raising confidence, skills and strategy. Packed with personal stories, case studies and tools the workshop will make sure that your approach to raising money is competitive and effective.

Board Development – NEW
Are you a non-profit leader, or a current or potential board member? This afternoon workshop turns the spotlight on what’s required to make your non-profit board deliver. You’ll look at best practice, performance expectations and what it takes to make non-profit leaders and board members work effectively together.
