The upcoming National Volunteer Week (11-17 May 2009) is being hailed as the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia.

With the theme Volunteers: Everyday people, extraordinary contribution it provides an opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in our communities and to say thank you to the more than 5 million Australians who volunteer.

This year, more than ever, the role of volunteers across Australia has been highlighted given the devastating effects of the recent bushfires and floods around Australia. Add to that the unsung work of many thousands of volunteers who contribute to the well being of Australia in so many ways and you realise that Australia’s volunteers make an extraordinary contribution to the nation.

There are many ways you can get involved whether you are a volunteer, Not for Profit organisation, or a company. Check out the website for more details on event ideas, posters, certificates of appreciation and more www.nationalvolunteerweek.com.au

National Volunteer Week is proudly supported by NAB, AAMI and the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
